GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club Named 2019 Business Award Finalist  

Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting

JANUARY 25, 2019 – Clearwater, Florida The GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club was named 2019 Small Charity of the Year finalist at the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards. The award winners were announced at the Chamber’s 97th Annual Meeting on January 24 at Opal Sands Resort, Clearwater Beach. 

“We are deeply honored to be a finalist and to be recognized among such outstanding charities in our community,” said Laura Connelly, President, GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club. “To be a finalist fuels our commitment to further expand our philanthropy, advocacy and volunteer service this year. A special thank you to the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and panel of judges.”

Since its founding in 2003, the GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club has grown to 166 members.  Unique in its breadth of community service, the club supports over 160 community service projects each year. In any given week, members are preparing dinner for 150 homeless at Peace Café in Clearwater, sewing blankets for kids in foster care, cleaning the Pinellas Trail, greeting veterans on Honor Flights, educating teens on dating and healthy relationships, collecting new and gently used children’s books and distributing them to new Habitat for Humanity homeowners, after-school programs, and foster care agencies, and more.

Since 2013, club members have volunteered over 120,000 hours, contributed nearly $250,000 of in-kind donations to community charities and donated over $105,000 for local community grants and scholarships.
