Laura Connelly Receives Community Activist and Leadership Award  

APRIL 29, 2019   CLEARWATER, FL – Laura Connelly, GFWC North Pinellas Woman’s Club president, was named the recipient of the 2019 Men & Women of Distinction Community Activist and Leadership Award by the Gathering of Women, Sunday, April 28, at the Saint Petersburg Country Club.

“The Men and Women of Distinction Award honors those who tirelessly give their time, talent and expertise to help make our community outstanding,” said Samantha Richardson-Hardy, president, The Gathering of Women, Inc. “Laura’s exceptional hands-on involvement, passion for humanity and leadership epitomize what it means to make a real difference in our community through service.”

The distinction awards honor community heroes across a broad range of activism in Tampa Bay, including health, culture, business, and public service.

Each year, candidates for the Distinction Awards undergo a strict review process that starts in the previous year. To evaluate the nominations, a selection committee gauges all names within the context of community involvement, leadership, commitment, a concern for humanity and having an enduring and meaningful impact.
